Things to do:

Don't forget to:

buy brakes for truck
start extended mind (start getting news feeds from google)
talk to chad, sounds like he needs a friend

That'll do, Oskar.

I've been waiting...

...and ain't no goddamn good thing come to me yet. In fact, last I checked, I've only gotten fucking misery and shit rained down on me. You think that it's right that a man's dog dies, his house burns down and his wife decides to screw his boss, all on the same day? I didn't think so. That's why I've got to do something about it. I've got to put my foot down and say, enough you motherfucking piece of shit world. Of course, woudn't you know it, I put my foot down in the last pile of shit my now dead dog left--I think it was still steaming. Motherfucking dog, good for nothing, woudn't even fetch a ball.

Clowns and Dancing Bears?

Think there is a media circus around Mark Felt's house in Santa Rosa (on Redford St.). I always wanted to see one, maybe I'll head over there tomorrow, take some pictures.

One of those days...

...where you spend all your time fixing things that shouldn't have been a problem.

Dad left yesterday. It was a good visit. I think he appreciates having grandkids more every year. I've got to get him to play with Ruby next time--try to relate more.

The visit brought up some thoughts from Jen about her own dad. Don't know how that story will eventually play out.

Time to go, want to check out bloggin software to start a blog on The Extendable Mind. Need to brainstorm some ideas, no pun intended.

Deep Throat Revealed! And he lives in Santa Rosa!

Wired News: Just Between Us Girls

Wired News: Just Between Us Girls: "hus, it's no surprise that when dorkbot decided to host a presentation for its members about the current state of teledildonics, they asked Blue to step into the spotlight. The result will be a hands-on demo of the Thrillhammer, the first commercial teledildonic sex machine, in cooperation with the Museum of Sex in New York City, which houses the machine Blue will use for the event.

The demo will take place in a small venue with limited capacity. In fact, when the organizers heard that I was writing about it, they considered rescheduling to an undisclosed date, so worried were they about unexpected crowds."

Turned toward the Extended Mind

When Ron was a boy of four, he first glimpsed the light of the Extended Mind peaking around a tree that stood in the middle of their front yard. The large oak tree had lost its leaves weeks before but they still surrounded the trunk and preceding the sighting he heard a crunching sound. He pulled his head away from his drawing and instead of Thistle, the family Border Collie he had expected to see, he saw a bright yellow boy, about his age, peering from around the tree--two glowing eyes alive with curiosity. Ron blinked, and the boy disappeared. He wouldn't see this emissary--his shadow--of the Extended Mind again until he was nine and went through the Inoculation Ritual.

This sucks, just wrote a nice post about putting Ruby to bed and somehow it got deleted.

It was powerful and poignant. But lost to the ether.

Maybe I'll duplicate it tomorrow.

Just a quick one

Sitting at home after picking up the family. Their trip back from Sweden was hellish, a two hour delay in Copenhagen (airplane needed new tires), led to them missing their change in Seattle, they were rerouted through Alaska Airlines and came in three hours later. Not that I knew it--I waited and waited wondering what was going on.

But now we are all home (and Mama Kitty just came by for a visit).

Time to watch Phantom menace in anticipation of seeing Ep. III on Thursday.

Ciao.

Senators Reach Deal to Avert Showdown on Judicial Nominees - New York Times

Senators Reach Deal to Avert Showdown on Judicial Nominees - New York Times: "May 23, 2005
Senators Reach Deal to Avert Showdown on Judicial Nominees
By CARL HULSE
and MARK J. PRENDERGAST

WASHINGTON, May 23 - An evenly divided bipartisan group of 14 senators said tonight that they had reached an agreement that would avert a potentially explosive vote on Tuesday on banning filibusters against judicial nominees.

Both parties' standard-bearers in the Senate, Bill Frist of Tennessee, the leader of the Republican majority, and Harry Reid, the Democrats' leader, quickly announced support for the deal, which one of its main brokers, Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, hailed as taking the Senate back from the edge of a 'precipice.'

The agreement would appear to clear the way for the approval of at least some of President Bush's stalled nominees. But it would also preserve the Democrats' right to use the judicial filibuster - or the Republicans' right, in a future Congress when they are the minority - under what were described tonight as 'extraordinary circumstances.'

'In a Senate that is increasingly polarized, the bipartisan center held,' said Senator Joseph Lieberman, the Connecticut Democrats who was one of the 14 senators.

Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican and part of the group, agreed, saying, 'The Senate is back in business.'

Senator Robert Byrd, the West Virginia Democrat, said, 'We have lifted ourselves above politics.'

Under the accord, announced in a hastily called Capitol news conference, the 14 senators pledged to vote to end prolonged debate on three of President Bush's most disputed appellate court nominees: Priscilla R. Owen of Texas, Janice Rogers Brown of California and William H. Pryor of Arkansas.

The 14 senators made 'no commitment to vote for or against' the filibuster against two other nominees, Henry Saad and W"

Two months and two days

Don't know if much has happened in the last two months--nothing beyond. Trip to Portugal, Sweden and Spain. Three weeks as a bachelor, just me and Oskar. Three weeks of frozen piazzas, about 40 tortillas and a lot of cheese. Three weeks of putting things off, three weeks of moping. But now the family is back, back to chaos--down with order!

August has teeth now, two, maybe even three. Ruby has what? More attitude? Hope not. Where was that girl of three, so sweet?

It feels good to write--feels like I haven't written anything but work emails for 40 years. So much inside--good to expunge--but that isn't what I'm doing now, is it? I'm just typing to see myself type.

What is a blog? A diary exposed? But if no one knows it is here--then it is privately public, right? Like having a secret redezvous at Notre Dame--anonymous amongst the sweating (it is August in this simile), garish (and American) throngs.

So, I'm picking Jennifer, August and Ruby up at the airport tonight. They get in at 9:00, but won't be out until 10:00--but they might clear customs in Seattle--if that is the case then they will be in the domestic terminal, right? I'd better find out.

And I'm downloading some music--per The Week's recommendations--we'll see how good it is.

And the Senator's made a compromise to avoid the "nuclear option"--think it should have been all out war--oh well.
